About the Coach

John Davis is a USA Cycling Level 2 (Expert) coach specializing in power-based training for serious amateur cyclists. John currently races as a Semi-Pro on the mountain bike, and enjoys working with cyclists from all disciplines and ability levels to help them acheive their goals. Specializing in training athletes with limited free time, John customizes each training plan to make the most of what time is realistically available during the week. The goal is to make every minute on the bike worthwhile - wasted time does no one any good. Coaching Plans

Basic - $125/month

A good fit for the athlete training with a Heart Rate Monitor (HRM) and looking for more structure and meaning in their training program.  This program includes:

  • Free subscription to TrainingPeaks.com, the premier Internet-based athlete data logging system
  • Annual Training Plan (ATP) design based on season goals, race schedule, and time available to train
  • Training goals and workouts planned in 2-week blocks
  • Daily workout reminder emailOngoing fitness testing – Lactate Threshold Heart Rate (LTHR), optimized cadence and wattage zones (if applicable)
  • Basic nutritional guidance
  • Complete off-season strength training and flexibility plan
  • Unlimited emails and phone calls with your coach

Consultation - $75/hour

Get expert coaching advice to help keep your training on track! Consultations may include:

  • Training plan analysis if you are a self-coached athlete
  • Help figuring out how to best use your new power meter or Heart Rate Monitor (HRM)
  • Improving a specific aspect of your performance, such as sprinting or climbing
  • Off-season training consultation (make indoor training less boring!)
  • Lactate Threshold Heart Rate (LTHR) or Functional Threshold Power (FTP) testing
  • Workout planning (running out of fun workouts?)
